Bob was a career firefighter for 33 years retiring from Strathclyde Fire Brigade in 2001 as Assistant Firemaster, Director of Fire Safety. He now is the Managing Director of his own Consultancy Company, Flamerisk Safety Solutions Ltd. and specialises in a wide area of fire related topics including fire engineering, fire risk assessments, fire safety and risk assessment training. He is also chairman of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers.
Neil is chief executive of the Institution of Fire Engineers. Neil was Deputy Chief Fire Officer for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service until June 2013 and he was also the national lead for fire protectio for the UK Chief Fire Officers Association from 2007 to 2013. Prior to that Neil chaired the working group that prepared UK fire services to implement the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which lead to him working with UK Government and other key stakeholders through the "Regulators Excellence Forum".
Tony is managing director of FirePro UK, which manufacturers condensed aerosol fire suppression systems, and is now represented in more than 70 countries. Tony has been a director at the Fire Industry Association for nearly ten years and has previously been managing director of Titan Fire and Security.
Carl is CEO Coltraco Ultrasonics, awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science from Durham University for his contribution to Physics, commitment to innovation in research and professional development for the students who work with Coltraco. Carl is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers and a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society, The Royal Institute for International Affairs (Chatham House) and the Royal Society for Asian Affairs. He advocates a Vision-Mission-Strategy business approach and is committed to integrity. He believes Science and Mathematics are at the company’s core and that Science and Arts graduates should combine their talents. Carl travels the world and is an outstanding ambassador for UK Business and Durham University.
Ann is Deputy Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales. She is an active trade unionist, Ann served as a national official in the Fire Brigades Union for a number of years and sat on both the Welsh Labour Party and Wales TUC Executives. She is a member of UNISON and Chairs the UNISON Group of Assembly Members. She also remains an ‘out of trade’ member of the FBU. While championing her local community, Ann Jones has worked tirelessly with the Welsh Labour Government to attract major investment to the area with real success.
Stewart has been in the fire sector for over 40 years having been a director of the Fire Protection Association and general secretary of BAFSA. He is a respected risk assessor and has been managing director of Loss Prevention Consultancy for nearly 20 years.
Neil has worked in various sales roles within the Fire Industry for 25 years, gaining a wealth of experience firstly in fire system design and sales, before moving into the arena of manufacturing and product sales. He has spent the last ten years as Sales Manager with Advanced Electronics, being responsible for all sales activity in Northern UK and Ireland. He enjoys working for a company at the forefront of innovation in the field of life safety and is particularly interested in methods of false alarm reduction.
Paul Pope has been at Apollo Fire Detectors since 2000, starting off as technical sales manager, before becoming head of UK sales and then Business Innovation Manager ( International). He is also a board member of the Fire Industry Association.
Sean is business development manager at FireVu and has over 16 years experience in the fire protection industry both as an engineer and as a sales consultant. Prior to joining FireVu earlier this year, he has worked for companies such as Tyco, Chubb and Secom.
Mark has been a journalist for 11 years working on across multiple sectors including telecoms, health and safety and sport. He has worked in the fire sector for the last 4 years and is currently managing editor of Fire & Security Matters (www.fsmatters.com) and content director for the Fire Safety Events (www.firesafetyevents.com).
Warren is an accredited Higher Courts Advocate enabling him to work as an advocate in the Crown Court. Warren has experience of over 160 cases under the current fire safety legislation including prosecutions for eight fire and rescue services.
Andrew is business development manager at Gerda. He has more than 14 years experience in the fire and security sectors. Gerda is a leading manufacturer of innovative design-engineered fire safety, security products and services.
Nick is head of product and portfolio at BT Redcare and has worked for Redcare since the early 1990's, involved in the original helpdesk in the Midlands and has since taken on various roles within Redcare on the technical side. His previous role on the team was Regional Technical Manager and Insurance Industry Liaison. Prior to joining the Redcare team Nick worked for BT in a Fault repair centre as a diagnostic Testing officer.
